The Catering Desk — Terms of Use & Sale

Last updated: July 2026. Written in plain English on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email [email protected] and a human will answer.

Who runs this

The Catering Desk is an independent publication run by Rico Moorer (Moorer Enterprises), operating as a sole proprietor. It writes honest, operator-first notes on AI and the back office of small catering and restaurant businesses. It takes no money from the vendors it covers.

The calculator is an estimate, not financial advice

The quoting-cost calculator on this site takes the numbers you enter and does simple, transparent arithmetic with them (you can read exactly how on the results page). The dollar figures it shows are illustrative estimates and a planning tool — not financial, accounting, tax, or legal advice, and not a promise of revenue or savings.

The estimate rests on assumptions drawn from what operators have told us, not from an audit of your business. Your real numbers will differ. Nothing on this site should be used as the sole basis for a business decision. For decisions with real money on the line, talk to a qualified accountant or advisor who knows your books.

The benchmark data is early and small

When we cite benchmark numbers built from calculator submissions, we will say how many businesses are in the sample. Early on that number is small, so treat any benchmark as a rough directional signal, not a statistical fact. We do not show peer-comparison figures at all until the dataset crosses a pre-committed minimum sample size, and we label the sample size whenever we do. See the Privacy & Data page for how that data is collected and consented.

Articles and how-to content

Our articles describe general approaches, including things like using AI tools in a food business's back office. They are journalism and general education, not professional advice for your specific situation — and emphatically not food-safety, health-code, employment, or legal guidance. Food safety and health-code compliance are governed by your local authorities; verify anything safety-related with them, never with an article or an AI tool.

The template pack — terms of sale

The Catering Desk Proposal Pack ($149, one-time) is a digital product: a set of templates, guides, and worksheets delivered by email.

  • What you're buying: the files described on the pack page. They are practical tools built from a real catering operation's experience — not a guarantee of any business outcome, and not tax, legal, or accounting advice.
  • License: your purchase is a single-business license to use and adapt the templates for your own operation. Please don't resell or redistribute the files themselves.
  • Delivery: by email, to the address you provide, after payment clears.
  • Refunds: because it's an instant digital download, we offer a straightforward 14-day, no-questions refund if the pack isn't useful to you — just reply to your receipt. We'd rather have a happy non-customer than an unhappy one.
  • Payment: handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.

(While the pack is in its pre-launch "fake door" phase, no money is taken at all — the buy button records interest and asks for an email. If a price is ever charged before the pack exists, that's a bug; tell us and we'll refund it immediately.)

Email

If you subscribe, you'll get The Catering Desk newsletter. Every issue has a one-click unsubscribe and our postal address, as US law (the CAN-SPAM Act) requires. You can leave anytime and we honor it immediately. See Privacy & Data.

The boring-but-necessary parts

  • No warranty: this site, the calculator, the content, and the pack are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.
  • Limited liability: to the extent the law allows, Moorer Enterprises isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the site or the products. Where liability can't be excluded, it's limited to what you paid us (which, for the free calculator and free content, is nothing).
  • Changes: we may update these terms; the "last updated" date at the top tells you when. Material changes to the pack's terms won't apply retroactively to a purchase you already made.
